Elizabeth Pascoe

We have come up through the ranks this last 65 million years to the “top dog” position, and now, each of us, need to live up to that responsibility. Evidently there can be (once you have read this you’ll begin to see what I mean, which I will therefore keep as brief as possible) no “white knight in shining armour” (or off-white like Barack Obama) who would / could take all our destinies into his hands (and save us from ourselves) or could take control of the (increasingly dodgy anxiety-causing man-orchestrated) current situation. The universe doesn’t work like that, can’t work like that, and once you understand all I hope to say clearly enough for anyone to grasp, you will realise we wouldn’t even want it to work like that. Each of us matters, everything matters. Also the “saviour” concept has been tried by various great people (“not of their time”) so we are already fully aware it doesn’t work, in fact due to the inadequacies of the human mentality, which can turn any tool into a weapon, such efforts have been utilised to cause more harm than good. I am very much “of my time” and a result of the context and knowledge (almost entirely of others) within which I have developed.

For the sake of starting somewhere, and I totally admit for starters this doesn’t sound too tasty or promising (but please “hang on” for a couple of pages) I will begin at the point from which all that I have since worked out / have to say started. (Of course a more realistic starting point arguably might have been a few thousand years ago, but I leave it to you to read Bryson’s “A Short History of Nearly Everything”). That starting point was my first reticent introduction to the entropy law (second law of thermodynamics) just before my fifteenth birthday. Under a different tab I will explain a bit more about my life than the circumstances of this “starting point”. No doubt the value of what I have to say will be constricted by who I am. Hopefully others will immediately see my limitations and remove those constrictions. I’ll explain what is apparent to me about what is wrong with the way the entropy law has been interpreted or extrapolated from and how it doesn’t give us anything like an accurate model of the universe, or the reality we experience and observe (well not in the somewhat longer term). So why I’m challenging that interpretation, and putting forward a new one.

Reinterpretation gives clues to how we should reconsider everything we do, from which it will be evident to you why that matters, which is probably the most important part of what I have to say, rather than audacity of challenging one of the fundamentals of science. (Actually this challenge won’t make too much difference, to most science on a day to day basis, but it might cause some rethinking at the “cutting edge”). The main part of the reinterpretation depends on what the entropy law needs to be considered in conjunction with, which necessarily takes us into my unique contribution. That then leads on to what I term the universal law, which is a guide to all future endeavours. It is something that as far as I know no-one else has ever recognised. Science is just one of the “dimensions” through which we can describe / perceive our universe. It isn’t the whole story. Science comes from the Latin “scio” (scire, scivi, scitus) “I know”. There is so much we don’t know! (The more you know the more you realise you don’t know). That is we don’t know intellectually. We may well instinctively recognise quite a bit more than we can be “sure” of.
